Joyce Carelock Ministries customer programs prepare students for a career as a customer service representative. The certificate program allows students to become proficient in all areas of customer service, including communications, office organization, and computer application usage.

The certificate in customer service allows students to pursue entry-level customer service positions. Students learn basic office computer applications, such as spreadsheets, word processors, and email programs. In addition, students learn to assist customers by providing accurate and helpful information regarding a product, service, or event.

Prerequisites:

Students are required to have a high school diploma, and some level of familiarity with computers is preferred.

Program Coursework:

Customer service courses teach students to communicate with customers, organize and maintain business records, use computer applications, and resolve customer problems.

Administrative Professional Certificate and Certification Program

 Course Topics:

• Change Management Training – Strategies to help employees adopt change, engage in the change process, and execute the change.
• Conflict Resolution Training – Presents techniques essential to handling conflict in the workplace.
• Johari Window – A self-awareness tool designed to help employees better understand themselves and others.
• Understanding Team Member Behavioral Styles – Helping team members understand how their personalities and skills impact the way they view and perform their work.
• Developing as a Leader – Helps current and aspiring leaders improve the skills they'll need to lead more effectively and support their team members and businesses.
• Establishing a Positive Work Culture – Implementing activities that make staff feel engaged, valued, and empowered.
• Leadership Transitions – Position your team members to successfully progress through transitions with ease.
• Leading with Emotional Intelligence – Challenging team members to recognize and positively manage emotions within themselves and others.
• Leading with Vision – Creating a compelling vision and obtaining the support of your team.
• Building Dynamic Teams – Enhance communication and collaboration among team members by reducing the barriers that prevent team cohesion.

Administrative Certificate program focuses on the organization’s needs, computer and technology proficient office workers, and current administrative skills. Administrative assistants perform a variety of duties, such as conducting research, scheduling meetings and appointments, answering phone calls, and creating and organizing documents. This certificate program allows administrative assistants to become proficient in their roles with confidence.

Prerequisites: All students are encouraged to have either graduated from high school or earned a GED certificate. It is helpful to have an understanding of basic word processing and other computer programs.

Program Coursework:

The Administrative program prepares the student with the employability and technical skills necessary to obtain a position in the Administrative field.

• Customer Service: Develop telephone etiquette, keyboarding, knowledge of standard office policies and procedures, effective working relationships, and conflict resolution strategies.
• Business Writing: Improve confidence and abilities to communicate more clearly and concisely as it relates to emails, memorandums, letters, and reports.
• Business Professional Image: Develop good work ethics, while understanding employer expectations, and views on dressing for success, personal accountability, and diversity within the workplace.
• Soft Skills: Develop strong work ethic, positive attitude, good communication skills, time management abilities, problem-solving skills, acting as a Team Player, self-confidence, ability to accept and learn from criticism, flexibility/adaptability, and working well under pressure.

Program Length: 4 weeks

Certificate: A Certificate of completion granted to students upon successful completion of the above coursework, and internship.

Note: The class meets 3 days a week at specified times. Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 

The Youth Adult Mentorship Program addresses the need for young adults to have caring and consistent relationships with dedicated adults as they navigate through the many phases of life. The goal of the youth-adult mentoring program is to improve the well-being of the youth by providing a role model who can support them emotionally, socially, and/or personally. This goal is accomplished through effective communication, an emphasis on goal setting, and providing opportunities to enhance social awareness.

Mentors will use their expertise and lived experiences with purpose and intent to inspire, inform, and direct mentees to self-motivation. Mentors provide a collaborative, inclusive, and safe environment where mentees receive support, encouragement, and guidance. Mentors also maximize opportunities to help young adults succeed in life and meet their goals. Mentees are encouraged to explore their values, passions, and potential career paths.

Mentoring outcomes include greater self-awareness, improved social interactions, and higher aspirations.
